My Personal Ethos, is that a true home, should inspire us to do our best work and by design, call us to our highest purpose.

And for this ideal to be created, I strive to ever widen my perspective on what that means, and delve deeper into my own self imposed limitations on what is possible.

Maintaining an inner fluidity is key, never letting myself become too comfortable in one way, or style. But to really listen to what is possible.

And honestly, this process so far, has been an absolute joy for me. I am excited by what each new experience and client brings to my own limited thinking! I appreciate the feeling of being challenged and simultaneously inspired.

Ethos

A Bit about Me

I began my journey into the craft, by restoring furniture, with purely unpowered hand tools.

Crafting small creative pieces, I wished to challenge myself to understand woodwork at its most essential.

By removing the convenience of power tools, I learned how to move my body efficiently, how to get a truly sharp tool, refining accuracy, stamina, patience and perseverance.

I remember on at least one occasion, I was so engrossed in learning to sharpen tools, I looked up after some hours late in the night, tucked away in an old shed, to see the sun was starting to rise! I had been sharpening old tools all night!

I think this mood speaks to the passion and devotion I wish to bring to all the work I do. Indeed, to all aspects of my life.
When I take the time to reflect on my journey with woodwork, I return ever and again, to the underlying feeling that, “I really love this”

Vocation

From those early years, I soon found that I was being called to branch out into carpentry, in conjunction with furniture making, and so I began to work on large jobs for builders around the Northern Rivers, NSW.
I found this absolutely exhilarating, going from the small detailed work of making a box to suddenly building walls, roofs, cladding homes etc.. was just so exciting for me!

These days, I find a great contentment, in a balance between building homes and then at other times furniture, and everything in between.

I have built several tiny homes, as well as many decks, renovations, kitchens, restorations and finish carpentry, and of course furniture, and restorations.
